4 Common Pelvic Bowl Problems Most Women Experience Before 40

Did you know there used to be a whole field of osteopathic gynaecology?

If you go back to older osteopathic literature you'll find a clear relationship between uterine pain, pelvic bowl congestion and throat sensations.

Simply defined.
Every human has a pelvic bowl. It's a group of soft tissues and organs that span from right below the belly button to the tail bone. In it's highest functioning state our pelvic bowl ought to support us structurally, spiritually and hormonally.

I originally trained as a Holistic Pelvic Care Practitioner for my own self interest. I wanted more tangible tools to move through the obstacles of being a woman in a messy cultural swirl of sexism, unreliable healthcare and the fact that no one taught me how to cherish this part of me growing up.

As one of my teachers Kathy Kain says, "It's very important knowledge that we don't get any other way. It's not seen in the medical side of things as a valid way to address these kinds of issues."

The 4 most common pelvic bowl problems I see in my practice are:

1. Ovarian and fallopian tube cysts
Most commonly in women that have a strong intuition and creative talent but aren’t in pursuit of it. Instead they’re playing small and doing what they ‘should do’ working a 9-5 job or staying in a relationship past it’s due date. We work both with the physical structures and with the underlying patterns holding them back from pursuing their truth.

2. Stuck trauma from childbirths or abortions:

I’ve been fortunate to work with many generations of women. Moms, grandmothers, a wide range of people from their 20’s - 70’s. Birth is a sacred process and sometimes doesn’t always go as planned. There’s still a enormous amount of taboo in the realm of abortions. The people that I work with often hold underlying grief, shame or side affects from anesthesia which result in a disconnect and imbalance from the body and specifically pelvic bowl. We work to heal the trauma and restore wholeness through a slow and safe process.

3. Creativity and fertility blocks
Most people don’t know that our creative and fertile energies are one in the same. whether you want to create a baby human or develop your business empire, the same creative energy is used. Simply a different result. We work together to restore trust, vitality and equilibrium to the pelvic bowl structures so that whatever you want to birth into the world is supported by your body, mind and spirit.

4. Painful periods or menopause
Menstrual discomfort is the worst. Excessive bleeding during menopause can be worrying and painful. I help women balance their cycles and transition from one phase of their womanhood to another with nurturance, assurance and ease. I once worked with this woman going through menopause who had her period for 8 months straight. After 2 sessions of working on balancing her pelvic bowl her menstruation stopped and didn’t come back. Her transition into her next phase of womanhood was supported with less stress and more trust in her process.

The side effects of our pelvic bowl being out of balance can create imbalances throughout our entire body. Just imagine the organs, systems and bones that connect directly to our pelvic bowls. It's basically the equator of our bodies. A big deal.

96% of good humans that come to see me have an imbalance in their pelvic bowl. No matter how they gender identify. Falls, surgeries, integrating new anatomy, sexual trauma fall close behind the most common experiences people have.
As we work together somatically we restore equilibrium and vitality into the structures and soft tissues held up by the architecture of the pelvic bowl.

One woman tested positive for precancerous cells in her cervix. As we worked to restore balance her next exam was all clear. Years later she's out there living her best life.

This is the power of our pelvic bowl.

When supported with a skilled guide you can learn how to:
Trust your body. Trust your path. Breathe faith into your life. Know that you’re not alone in this journey of inhabiting your space in this world.

If you are struggling with some pelvic bowl stuff let this be a light of hope for you. Feel the call for extra support?
